Unlike the other grades in the 12% chromium category, Stainless Steel Bar CNS 405 is not susceptible to extensive hardening by high temperature air cooling, it can be used in continuous service up to 1300°F and intermittent exposure up to 1500°F. Stainless Steel Bar CNS 405 can be welded using shielded fusion and resistance techniques, oxyacetylene is not recommended and post-weld annealing will maximise its ductility.
